2. What information the app processes

2.1 Information you create

• EQ band levels per preset (5- or 10-band)
• Bass boost, virtualizer, loudness-enhancer settings
• Custom preset names
• Floating-bubble preferences (position, size, transparency, accent colour)
• Master on/off state

Stored in the app's private DataStore on your device. Never uploaded.

2.2 What the app does with audio

BassBoost Pro attaches to Android's global audio effect chain via android.media.audiofx APIs (Equalizer, BassBoost, Virtualizer, LoudnessEnhancer). These effects re-shape audio that other apps are playing. BassBoost Pro never accesses, records or analyses audio content. It only adjusts gain on frequency bands.

• Audio content of any kind (microphone is never accessed)
• Names of songs, artists or albums you play
• Names of other apps you use
• Contacts, photos, files, SMS, call logs
• Precise location
• No analytics SDKs

4. How permissions are used

4.1 Modify Audio Settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS)

Required by Android to attach EQ / BassBoost / Virtualizer / LoudnessEnhancer to the global audio session.

4.2 System Alert Window

To draw the floating EQ bubble and panel on top of other apps.

4.3 Foreground Service (special use)

To keep the EQ engine and floating panel running while you switch between apps.

4.4 Notifications, Boot, Exact Alarms, Vibrate

Persistent control notification, re-launch after reboot, watchdog timing, optional haptic feedback.

4.5 Battery Optimisation

Optional — granted from a system page so Android doesn't pause the EQ engine.

4.6 Internet

Only AdMob and Play Billing use the network.

5. Where data lives

• EQ presets and settings in the app's private DataStore on your device.
• Optionally in Android Auto Backup.

6. Subscription and ads

30-day Pro trial unlocks 10-band EQ and unlimited custom presets. After: yearly subscription via Google Play, or free tier (5-band EQ + 3 custom presets) with optional ad-extends (20 days each, max 3/day).

7. Children's privacy

Not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.

8. Your rights

• Access / portability: presets are visible in-app.
• Deletion: delete custom presets in-app or clear app data in Android Settings.
• Withdraw ad consent: subscribe, or reset Advertising ID.

9. Data retention & security

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. Stored in Android's app-private sandbox, encrypted at rest on modern Android.

10. Changes to this policy

Updated whenever a new feature changes the data picture.
